The Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht took place on January 10-13. The Vakantiebeurs is a major tourism and leisure fair. A lot of travel agencies and related associations from all over the world presented themselves at the fair. Established in 1997 The Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau – ICVB is a non-profit destination marketing organisation working as a branch of Tourism Development & Education Foundation – TUGEV.

ICVB’s main goal is to represent and promote Istanbul as a destination around the world and to seek international associations and corporations planning to hold high-profile congresses and events. ICVB has played a key role in Istanbul’s rapid rise of popularity as a congress destination according to the ICCA statistics. Thus reassuring the significance of Istanbul’s 8,500 year of history as well as professional services offered by the city’s tourism industry and professional solutions offered by ICVB’s strategies.

ICVB members include the leading corporations and associations involved in the conference and incentive tourism such as hotels, conference & exhibition centres, DMC & PCOs, airlines and other companies. The ICVB, working in close collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; designs and implements special events and other marketing strategies to raise Istanbul as a congress and event centre.

ICVB is also an active member of international meetings industry organizations such as the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA), European Cities Marketing (ECM), Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and lastly Global Code of Ethics for Tourism. (UNWTO)
Istanbul CVB becomes the official association relations partner of ICCA
ICVB is partnering with ICCA as an ‘Association Relations Partner’ (ARP), to further promote Istanbul as a leading congress destination.

The President of ICVB and ICCA signed the 2 year Mou on October 3rd, 2018. Allowing for closer relations and activities together.

At the signing president of ICVB Mr. Avdagic stated: ''This is an important step for Istanbul's visibility and it will strengthen our relationship with both ICCA and international associations. I believe that it will have a positive impact on Istanbul’s position as an international congress destination.''
Istanbul CVB joined forces with universities and local associations during the ‘Ambassador Program'.
Having one of the youngest populations in Europe, Istanbul houses 61 universities and 11 technological development zones that are testament to the city as a hub of learning, inspiration and innovation, perfectly in line with the meetings industry.

In October 2018, ICVB gathered rectors of universities, national associations, sector representatives under the roof of ‘Become Istanbul’s Ambassador Program’, with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s sponsorship. Within the Ambassador Program ICVB will cooperate with national associations and academics, which will make a positive impact on Istanbul’s position in the association meetings industry.
San Fransisco based agencies in Istanbul
In cooperation with Turkish Airlines and ICVB “a familiraziton trip to Istanbul” was held for senior executives of 8 agencies from San Francisco between 22-25 May 2018.
Fam Trip for 8 Swedish agencies in Istanbul
In cooperation with the Consulate General of Sweden, THY and ICVB, “a visit to Istanbul” was organized for senior executives of Swedish agencies between 15-18 November 2018.
Mediterranean Chapter Annual Meeting 2019 was held in Antalya, on February 17-19, 2019.
Istanbul CVB participatied in Mediterranean Chapter Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting was themed the “power of stories” and it was focusued on sharing stories about “teaching, persuading, informing and bringing closer to understand surroundings.” Meeting attendees had the chance to benefit from speeches from associations, industry experts and exchange knowledge during either the formal activities or the social events with colleagues from different backgrounds. Digital Transformation, statistics, bidding, event management was also among the topics that were tapped on during these two days meeting.
New Generations And New Trends In International Tourism Congress
This Congress was held in Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, between the dates 02.11.2018-03.11.2018.
The topic is What is new trend in developing tourism and how these sectors can develop more effectively. About the congress tourism, the academics gave a presentation of Evaluations of Sector Representatives on the Problems of Congress Tourism in Istanbul and they discussed the future of congress tourism.
